New Shredder 14 Released...

Post by Steve Maughan »

It seems Stefan has just released Shredder 14! Here are the highlights:
  • Estimated strength improvement of >425 ELO (Shredder 13 is 3326 ELO on CCRL, implying Shredder 14 is 3751 ELO i.e. #1)
  • It comes in three versions: Classic, Shredder 14, and Deep Shredder 14.
  • Updated GUI (the old icons were looking dated)
  • Available for Windows, Mac & Linux
More details here: https://www.shredderchess.com/

Congrats Stefan!

I believe Shredder 13 was released in October 2016 — ten years ago!

Thanks Steve for the heads up. A must have in my collection, just purchased!
@Look, S.13 was released by EOY 2016, hence close to 10 years ago...
All the best,

Is the MacOS version a native Apple Silicon application? If not, it will need Rosetta 2 and that is slated to go away in MacOS 28 (roughly 1 year from now).

Glad to see that there is a Linux version.

Unfortunately the demo doesn't seem to work very well for me.

When I start the program I get a weird error message.

After that, when I start a game against the computer, the computer never plays, and I can move both colors.

Congrats Stefan!

I do not see more details but I do not believe it is 3751 elo ccrl when stockfish is only 3649 elo based on the CCRL rating list.

Look at this page and the "New In This Version" section:

https://www.shredderchess.com/windows/d ... er-14.html

I'm skeptical too, but let's see. Stefan hasn't claimed it's better than Stockfish. I'm infering that from the CCRL list and the +425 ELO claim.

That's on 4 threads. Probably very good scaling.
CCRL blitz for Shredder 13 is 3280, 3280+425=3705, good for 27th place. But who knows.
