Hiarcs email
Did anyone else receive an email from the hiarcs site saying that there will soon be a release? I wish that they would release it for free..

No reason to give it for free if people are going to buy it. Even Uri Blass recommended the Toga authors to sell the upcoming versions.Tony Thomas wrote:I wish that they would release it for free..

No if they asked for permission to Fabian Letouzey and changed the license.Tony Thomas wrote:Uri gave advice to sell Toga? Wouldnt that be illegal?

Yes. We'll get 2 engines for our money if we choose to buy:Tony Thomas wrote:Did anyone else receive an email from the hiarcs site saying that there will soon be a release? I wish that they would release it for free..

I would have to say that's a marketing ploy. Why would I want an older version of Hiarcs if the new version is indeed better?Erik Roggenburg wrote:Yes. It's perfectly fine to sell Toga right now, but you still have to make the source files available (including any changes you make). If all the copyright holders agreed to, a closed source Toga could be made available, but that would just cause a fork. The current Toga would always be there as competition, and anyone who wanted to could try to improve it.Tony Thomas wrote:Uri gave advice to sell Toga? Yes, agreed. Maybe there are 4 or 5 other older betas they could give us as wellTony Thomas wrote:I would have to say that's a marketing ploy. I am not making a decision to buy because they are tossing in an extra engine. It is something for nothing, so I do find a little extra value in it.Tony Thomas wrote:I would have to say that's a marketing ploy. It is fun to have different versions of engines.
