Chessmaster for Sony PSP.

Post by Cubeman »

I see that the chessmaster has been released for the PSP platform and has been out for about a month now.Does anybody know how strong it is on the highest settings, and can you analyse a game or position?

The best personnality of "Chessmaster - The Art of Learning" is 1850 ELO. (I've run some quick tests and it seems that it is more or less 1900-2000 ELO FIDE, so a little bit underrated).

There is no "analysing feature" in this version.

I'm a little bit disappointed about this version because the engine seems to have been rewritten from scratch by another team of developer. It does not seems to be powered by "the king" engine anymore. By the way, I can not find Johan de Koning in the credits...

One of the reviews on Amazon by a 1900 (USCF) rated player indicates that the game is pretty strong.

If that's true then I'm not surprised. Johan may not have the time to port his engine to a new, complicated platform. He may have tried it, but maybe he didn't achieve the best results.
