Thanks for the very quick rating Patrick!

I do hope it ends up stronger than .2447...

Hi Zach,
I hope too - but I stopped here 2 matches with not so good results:

Code: Select all

Zct 0.3.2 w32 1CPU 2200 - Cyrano 0.5 w32 1CPU 2200 0.0 - 10.0 +0/-10/=0 0.00%
Zct 0.3.2 w32 1CPU 2200 - Crafty 22.1 w32 1CPU 2200 1.5 - 8.5 +0/-7/=3 15.00%
I sent an email with 1 example. Is here something wrong?
If you want I can send you all the games.

best
Werner

Hi Werner,

I am beginning to suspect a bug. I would've expected the SMP version to do something, but the 1-CPU version is rather surprising. I'm looking into it now, something weird is going on.

I knew a release without a bug report was too good to be true! :D

Here is one bug at least from the given games from Patrick ;-)
(A very common one though...)
ZCT suffers from the 99 plies bug as some other programs too.
In a position when 98 plies of 100 plies for a 50 moves draw were
already played ZCT allowed a mate in one with its 99th ply move
and of course the opponent took the chance and ended the game.

Stephan

Hello Stephan,

I remember reading about this problem a while back in some engines. I figured it would never happen, so I just put off fixing it. But you just proved me wrong! I fixed it. :)

It looks like Patrick doesn't take the time to look at the games and always in a hurry to post the rating of the new version....
Of course any comment on these two games will be a massive attack from my side,so I'll withdraw....

Hi,

These two games are not in the "tournoi d'entrée" and the first rating doesn't include these games.

These games are in the tournament from Eduardo.

It looks like Patrick doesn't take the time to look at the games and always in a hurry to post the rating of the new version....
Hi,

These two games are not in the "tournoi d'entrée" and the first rating doesn't include these games.

Hi Patrick,
Thanks for the reply....
I was talking in general of course,I open every single pgn of my tournaments and take a close look at the games so that hte rating list is not influenced by losing opening lines....

Good luck....
