I recieved and email from a friend who plays on Playchess and was wondering if something like this has happened to anyone here. I have removed the nicks of the players envolved. Of course this was a email that I was CC in on. Below is a summary:
A player using the Nick (#### #####) in open chat pretended that I was talking with him in private. (I was not) He gave the impression that I was insulting His Holiness the Pope of Rome. The implications was that he was defending in open chat, the insults that I was making to him in private chat. (I was of course not talking to him at all)
The result of his actions caused other players to trash my very good evaluations. I would ask you to restore my hard earned evals. and take disciplinary action against the player using the nick (#### #####)
I would not feel comfortable playing in the engine room until this issue is resolved.
Has this happened to you?

Chessbase should remove this whole evaluation stuff. It's good for nothing.
I don't play on playchess anymore but while I did I noted that even people I thought were sane went insane when their evaluations turned from something like 'very popular' to '?!'.
Really Kindergarten ...
Chessbase should get rid of this nonsense feature.
best regards

Yes ...... there are abuses....however I really do loath being insulted repeatedly just for beating the snot out of someone. I ....somehow do feel better not after evaluating a player but reporting abuse which is clearly evident when checked. I hope that feature is not removed......Another feature is one can only ignore 50 people. I have beeen abused by more than fifty people since being there. Indeed it comes in handy to ignore slow net connections when playing bullet. It is noteworthy that one is not permitted to "ignore"more than 50 people! I cannot even remove some ignored people to enter the current person I wish to ignore!! Hmmmmmmmmmmm......

Go to playchess to play chess. I have no need of the ignore features or evaluation features because I just play chess. If you need to ignore 5 let alone 50 people you might be the problem.

I also think the evaluation stuff is silly. I wouldn't worry about it. Every once in a while I get someone who starts chatting to me and is very upset because I did not send an applause or something like that. Actually I do not even know how to send applause and I usually totally ignore chats from people I don't know or when I am playing. I do like to chat in the engine room or when we kibits an observed match. I did learn to use the "ignore" feature as it is very useful to prevent idiots from constantly barraging you with seeks or rematches ... or for using silly profanities when they lose. I also ignore people I think are cheating (usually at longer time controls). Remember this server is open to everyone ... so the chances of running into idiots or children are very high.

Believe me.... I have been playing there for years and have run into several disagreeable people..Like the ones that accept your seek and then abort repeatedly over and over again.......very annoying!

I disagree. Playchess is not like ICC or Yahoo where kids generate insults like a machine gun. You may run into the odd guy here or there but they are largely well behaved. Set the formula thing properly don't have 0-3000 Elo only for a guy 2200 to pick your seek when you are 1400.Nimzovik wrote:Believe me....
