MCab and depth based score bonus?

Post by smatovic »

Heyho,

in my MonteCarlo-AlphaBeta-Framework it can happen that there are two similar scores for two different positions, but one was searched deeper, so i would like to give the deeper one an higher score...

e.g

Position A, score: 45, depth 10
Position B, score: 50, depth 3

Any ideas how this depth-bonus could look like?

Thanks in advance

This is search instability - it happens normallyt. If you really want, you could have a transposition table, but IIRC for GPUs TTs are a no-go.

Hmm,
assumed these two are root node positions, which one would you choose to play and why?

Position A, score: 45, depth 10
Position B, score: 50, depth 3
i think the trick is to avoid such an difference in depth at close scores by an smarter select phase....
