Crafty site by Peter Skinner don't work!

Post by Frank Quisinsky »

Hi there,

sice days the Crafty site by Peter Skinner don't work.
Bad news because I like the work Peter do with Crafty all the years.

Hope Dann Corbit, Jim Ablett, others can compile newer available Crafty versions in the future.

Of course, the FTP site by Prof. Robert Hyatt works fine.

Hope all is OK, longer time I hear nothing to Crafty developing. I am sure Bob try out different new ideas?

Best

I am always working, yes. There will be a new version reasonably soon. Significant SMP search improvements, but other things as well.

It won't be that much longer. Still behind StockFish by a big margin, but right now, the new version is about +60 Elo over previous version. And if you use parallel search, significantly more. This is a total rewrite of the parallel search code that is working REALLY well so far.

Hi Bob,

great news!
Crafty should hold a place in the TOP-40!
Very important for young talents ... fight vs. Crafty will give programmers motivation for 20 years and today too!

Thanks for your inforamation around Crafty developing.

BTW:
Do you hear anything from John Stanback?
Longer time no contacts to him.
Hope all is OK with him!?

In Winboard times, first WB eng-eng tourneys we organice, Zarkov vs. Crafty was a hard-fought! Maybe the hardest I ever saw.

Best
