Re: Komodo vs GM Martin Petr (2515)
Komodo's opening play could be better enhanced. The main weakness against good GM in 2 pawn odds is that it does not evaluate the position efficiently and it does not choose the best strategy. When u r 2 pawns down you have to avoid long stretegical battles. When exchanging you must consider the remaining pieces as more valuable for the opponent after the exchange which will temper the potential advantage that will be gained after exchanges. I suggest that KOMODO has different evaluation at the opening and that it considers evaluation of the remaining pieces when the advantage of the opponent is more than 125 cpawns as follows: When we exchange the remaining pieces of the opponent will get more and more value 3 centipawns for pawns 4-5 cp for light piece (Bishop or Knight the value of this plus depends on the nature of the position) and may be 7-12 cp for Rook (depending if it controls lines etc) and for the Queen 15-20 cp. If you evaluate the position like this you'll see the engine will change it's calculations.

We already have code to avoid exchanging when behind and also when Contempt is set.musketeerchess wrote:Komodo's opening play could be better enhanced.
