Black is supposed to be winning inspite of Stockfish's evaluation.
The position is not from a practical chess game and
I wonder if you can find a position of this type from practical games between humans when stockfish believes one side has a big advantage when this side is practically losing.

Re: positions that stockfish does not understand who is better
I guess this is just a search problem rather than an evaluation one. Any evaluation from a NN or a custom evaluation function is useless. If black is winning it is probably due to square domination. I wonder how that was checked and if small perturbations of knights' placement changes the result

Re: positions that stockfish does not understand who is better
[quote="Uri Blass" post_id=937019 time=1667123721 user_id=192]
Black is supposed to be winning inspite of Stockfish's evaluation.
The position is not from a practical chess game and
I wonder if you can find a position of this type from practical games between humans when stockfish believes one side has a big advantage when this side is practically losing.
[fen]1nnnknn1/3ppp2/2n2n2/8/8/8/3PPP2/Q2QK2Q w - - 0 1[/fen]
But if we let Stockfich play it out playing both sides, let say game in 5'+5" Minutes, will Black still win ?

Re: positions that stockfish does not understand who is better
If You analyze this position it looks winning for White, but if you let any top engine play it out both sides, Black will eventually win. Slowchess gives White a huge advantage after analyzing it for 3 Minutes

Re: positions that stockfish does not understand who is better
With Stockfish playing both sides there is no guarantee, as it obviously misevaluates these kind of positions and therefore is prone to do very stupid moves also as black. You have to let an engine that knows two Knights are worth more than a Queen here play black. Such as Queeny. Then it will virtually always win with black, no matter who the opponent is.Chessqueen wrote: ↑Tue Nov 01, 2022 3:02 pmBut if we let Stockfich play it out playing both sides, let say game in 5'+5" Minutes, will Black still win ?
