Chess Computer used to be soo expensive

Post by Chessqueen »

I remember back in 1997 when I purchase a Novaq Turquoise rated around 2150 and I paid around $200.00, https://www.spacious-mind.com/html/turquoise.html
Now you can purchase a ChessNut Air
https://www.chessnutech.com/products/ch ... gIge_D_BwE for $200.00 and is much better made in Wood and stronger

Yup, I wanted one for many years but seemed they were closer to $800+. Around 2020 I bought a ChessUP when it launched on kickstarter. Granted it took a year to get it with everything going on but I still love it and it's the main way I play on lichess anymore. Lovely little device.

With small Pi-like ARM based boards around and inexpensive it's a lot easier to DIY as well.
