http://www.rybkachess.com/docs/PADERBORNCOMPUTER.htm- Rybka against Zappa, which was the fastest engine in the tournament and in the world because it played on 128 processors!
Anyway, the match is so short that not much really matters. Except luck.

Hi Erik,Erik Roggenburg wrote:In the ratings lists I see, Deep Fritz 10 rates higher than Deep Junior 10. What could be leading to Junior's solid performance in this match?
Opening preparation?
Better hardware?
Good luck?
Something else?
Junior seems to be above in all the fields that Erik mentioned. They have better hardware, a more aggressive opening book, and on top of that good luck. Fritz was never known for its tournament performance were as Junior won more world championships than any other engine so far (even Shredder).Dr.Wael Deeb wrote:Hi Erik,Erik Roggenburg wrote:In the ratings lists I see, Deep Fritz 10 rates higher than Deep Junior 10. As I wrote several times beore,Junior's performance is much obvious when using it's own opening book....simple as that
Forcing it to play with ""hs","is","js" and so on generic opening books will definitely harm it's performance....

I remember that zap was supposed to use 128 processors against rybka but had technical problems to use them.Vempele wrote:http://www.rybkachess.com/docs/PADERBORNCOMPUTER.htm- Rybka against Zappa, which was the fastest engine in the tournament and in the world because it played on 128 processors!

Oooops.watch out Leto,Terry is gonna gatch yaLeto wrote:At CEGT 40/120, Deep Fritz 10 2CPU beat Deep Junior 10 2CPU by a score of 28.5-21.5, scoring 57%. Deep Fritz 10 2CPU is rated 61 elo higher than Deep Junior 10 in that list, with both engines each having about 1000 games, which is quite a significant amount of games for tournament time control.

I find it interesting to note that the hardware DF10 is using for this match is much faster than the hardware that was used against Kramnik, yet Deep Junior has managed to score 2 wins while Kramnik didn't even manage a single win! I think that pretty much tells us how weak the strongest human is compared to the top chess engines.
Well, why not easy enjoy these games ??Erik Roggenburg wrote:In the ratings lists I see, Deep Fritz 10 rates higher than Deep Junior 10. What could be leading to Junior's solid performance in this match?
