I am pretty sure there is. Smarthink is a bitboard engine, so I dont see why not. Looking at the description, I think they just copy/pasted the one for Smarthink 1.00. Why not come up with a better/newer one??

Hi all,
has anyone downloaded the new engine and can confirm the 64bit version?
I did not find such an announcement on Lokasoft site.

I guess I will be able to let you know in few hours if someone doesnt help you already. I just made the order, I only paid $41.02, I have received the email from worldbank but nothing yet from Lokasoft.

cegt already has a 1000 or so games testing smarthink moscow

http://www.husvankempen.de/nunna/40_40% ... liste.html

Looks to be about 60 pnts better than the old version, and a little worse than fritz9

I noticed some hints in this thread that smarthink is somehow related to strelka. can anyone explain? sounds interesting

Its just that the author of Smarthink knows the author of Strelka. If Smarthink was indeed related to Strelka we would have seen more like a 200 point increase in strength. Would meeting Thomas Gaksch turn Michael Sherwin in to writing an engine that is a rip off from Toga, I highly doubt it.

Where do you see the hints about Strelka? Did some of the posts disappear from this thread?

Hi !
1.Seems between Markoff & Osipov were/are professional and friendship relations.
2.J.Osipov disassembled Rybka 1.0 beta.
3.J.Osipov is the author of Strelka series considered to be a clone.
4.Markoff has the source code of Strelka, Osipov has the source code of SmarThink 1.00.
5.Remains only the speculations.
6.SmarThink 1.10 is a Lokasoft product.
7.SmarThink 1.10 was compiled by Brian Hoffman.
8.In my tests SmartThink is now a very positional engine ( Rebel 12 caused a lot of problems for ST 1.10 on blitz on ERT).
9.The KN/s meaningful increased for SmarThink 1.10 Moscow.

Regards,
Silvian

SmarThink is completely unrelated to Strelka: They have no more in common than any randomly chosen pair of modern chess programs. The similarities which are there are all techniques which are very widely adopted (like the use of LMR and rotated bitboards), and they were all implemented in SmarThink years before Rybka or Strelka appeared.

The open source chess program most similar to SmarThink is Crafty, but the similarity is not particularly striking. It can be compared to the similarity between Glaurung 1.2.1 and Phalanx XXII.
