Hi Swami,

Movei failed me. I just noticed that you might be using an older version.

Hi Edsel,

I think it is the latest available special beta version that Uri sent it to me, the version designed to play little better at Blitz than the official one.

Movei public version was in Division 1 once and it got demoted 3 times all the way to division 4(?) and then this version was used then and it climbed up the ladder again to find itself in Division 2 here. Movei is sometimes unpredictable.

When I get back home, I will check the version numbers and Uri's mail to make sure it is the same version that he recommended me to use, because I had copied all the engine files back from old comp and installed them one by one in new one.

Looks like it is the same version that played in last edition.

in division 3 edition 7 Movei_8_446 finished 2nd

in division 2 edition 8, Movei_8_446 finished 9th and scored 29.5

In this edition, Movei_8_446 scored 22.5.

When I get back home, I will check out the games to see if there are known bugs.

1.So could be that Movei doesn't play blitz that well relative to how it plays in longer time controls.

2.or other engines perform even better in faster hardware than Movei in blitz. There never was known bugs other than slower time management/long time control suited-slow search in blitz.

If my first impression is right, then Twisted is indeed 2nd division material..It scored 100 points better than all the engines in my first division, and is currently playing in the premier edition. Dont even bother checking movei for bugs, movei is simply not a good blitzer.

Yes, Tony you are right. But Movei special version that I got it from Uri plays little better blitz than other Movei versions, but it still lacks in blitz playing abilities overall. I don't doubt its strength in longer TC which is superior.

As for TL, the engine has got the double promotion.

This is correct.
There is almost no difference between 446 and 438 except the fact that 446 is designed to play slightly better at blitz relative to 438 and I did not work on movei in the last months so I did not update movei.

There will probably be no new movei in 2008.

Uri,

I do hope that you find enthusiasm to work on it more if you get time.

Movei did really give a good fight in all the division tournaments. I plan to include the same version in Grand Blitz tournament which kinda like Open war but it's different in that it is no author registeration only tournament.

Regards.

Don't worry Swami, Uri may not be planning to release a new Movei version anymore because he might have a new bitboard engine. :)
