What Opening Books performs the best under the Arena GUI ?
Can different people post their results of matches performed with different Opening Books under the Arena GUI. Harry's latest Opening Book is very good, but I would like to hear other people that had good results with other Books.

My answer is this:pichy wrote:Can different people post their results of matches performed with different Opening Books under the Arena GUI. Harry's latest Opening Book is very good, but I would like to hear other people that had good results with other Books.
Without intensive testing no one can tell....

For such an assessment Graham Banks is the best and most competent man. He has tested and played with all the Arena books!pichy wrote:Can different people post their results of matches performed with different Opening Books under the Arena GUI. HS-Book.abk used in Arena 2.0:
Menu: Book - Manage - Move selection
Priority -------------+13
Number of games-------+12
Win percentage---------+12
Select:"Move with priority 0 nerver played"

If you're conducting engine v engine testing, it's hard to find a better book than the HS-Book.abk.pichy wrote:Can different people post their results of matches performed with different Opening Books under the Arena GUI. For variety the HS-classic 10moves 2.0.abk and Xmas2640.abk books are also good, but they're smaller and better for tournaments rather than gauntlets.
Cheers, Graham..

Patrick I just finished a match Thinker 5.4 using your settings with HS-Book.abk Versus Rybka 2.2 with Rybka 2 opening Book and the match ended 19.5 to 10.5 in favour of Rybka 2.2.Le Fou numerique wrote:Hi,pichy wrote:Can different people post their results of matches performed with different Opening Books under the Arena GUI. A clear false statement,he hasn't tested and played with all Arena books, not to mention that no one has put his hand on iDeeb_Script.abk and probably no one will....Theodor wrote:For such an assessment Graham Banks is the best and most competent man. As I wrote above, without intensive testing, any answer to Jeorge's question is a pure speculation....
BTW Theodor, from the number of your posts, only 7,how can you be so confident about the Arena opening books and why do you always pop up when this subject come to the surface

Correct. I haven't used all Arena books. I can only comment about the ones I've used and only for the purposes of engine v engine testing.Dr.Wael Deeb wrote:A clear false statement,he hasn't tested and played with all Arena books, not to mention that no one has put his hand on iDeeb_Script.abk and probably no one will....Theodor wrote:For such an assessment Graham Banks is the best and most competent man. The day after Christmas Day is called Boxing Day here - I think that follows British tradition.
