Any check with the queen or Rh7 lead to an easy win because
the black king defenders can not interpose against a Q+R mate attack.

Rxd8 is an obvious draw move (either equalizing material to KQkq or perpetual check). So I guess that is the move that was made.

I could easily have traded rooks in a blitz game or under time pressure.
Rh7 {the ten move mate} was a little hard for me to see. The move that seemed most natural to me (which retains strong winning chances) was Qb5+.

There is another funny affect I sometimes see in my games. When I am playing them, the stupid things I do seem so hard to grasp, but when I analyze them later they are blushingly, profoundly, and obviously stupid. The odd thing is that I never see this effect when I am watching someone else play. I imagine it is an emotional affect from thinking too hard about your own plan. Am I alone in this terrible malady, or is it a fairly commone effect?

Too many sidelines to find exact mating line, but I would obviosly
start with Rh7+ Kd6 (only move) Qc7+ Ke6 (Ke5 Rh5+ transposing) Rh6+ Kdef5 Rh5+, depending on black's move there are potential protected queen checks in c5, e5, h7. Black is defendless.
