The only issues I ever had there were related to misunderstandings. Otherwise it was a fine place with a lot of nice people and a few annoying ones. Almost like in real life

Well you have to understand that children also frequent that place and some adults also tend to act like children sometimes ... especially if they are anonymous. Best thing is to use the ignore button, I find it extremely useful!

I find the service in general poor.

It's a shame, because the interface is really good.

It would be great if they would allow engines other than Chessbase engines in the Main playing hall - there's no point in running my engine in the engine room vs Rybka / Stockfish all the time.

So I use the ICC. Friendly, helpful, and lots of opponents of similar strength for my engine.

I've sent repeated emails to Chessbase over the years, and never had a reply.

First of all I wanted to clear up some of the past post I had made here on the forum about sysop being corrupted and abusing their power on playchess engine room. I wanted to apologize to Harvey Williamson for not making it clear in my past post on here that he is not one of the sysop who are authoritarian , corrupted and like to throw their power around. Harvey is far from any of those things I have mentioned above about the sysop in the engine room. I am referring to Holgar and Rob Osborne. Harvey has never belittled, mocked or used verbal attacks towards me in the engine room. Harvey has always acted professional and resolved problems without letting it get out of hand. I can not say the same for Rob Osborne and Holgar. Both of these guys have mocked, be belittled, and attacked me verbally on there. In the past when I had a problem with another player in the engine room , I reached out to Harvey for help through a second party and Harvey took care of the problem quickly without insulting anyone or exposing anyone. He handled the situation professionally and resolved the problem before it escalated. I have spoken to Harvey a couple of times in there, and he has been helpful and not once did he ever insult me like Holgar and Rob have.

Rob you talked on one of your post at Don Juan's forum about showing respect for the ones in charge. I have no problem showing respect to people who are in charge but they must show respect to get respect. You and Holgar have failed to do that. Rob , you seem to like to instigate things in the engine room. I had put in main chat that I wanted to know why my nick got demoted to pawn and you came on there cracking a joke at me. As soon as I cracked a joke back at you, you called Holgar over to mute my account. ITs OK for you to mock me and make jokes at me but its not OK when I do it back? Rob perhaps you and Holgar don't know the role of a sysop and how to handle problems as they emerge. Maybe you guys don't have the experience or maturity to handle such problems and therefore you feel you must throw your power around. As a sysop your there to resolve problems not add fuel to the fire as you and Holgar have clearly done. You and Holgar need to take your emotions out and attack the problem for what it is and not by force and throwing your power around. You don't see Harvey doing that all. He has acted professional through all this and for that I have a great deal of respect for him. You also don't see Harvey going over to Don Juan's forum and attacking Don Juan every day through post. Is this how you as a sysop think a problem should be handled? I find it funny you attack him, but when I try to debate with you on even grounds at Don Juan's forum you avoid me. Perhaps its because you don't have Holgar to back you up and mute my account like you do at the engine room. You and Holgar like to get your personal attacks in and when its my turn to defend my self you guys mute my account.

Perhaps Rob, you and Holgar should take a long look at how you guys have approached your paying customers on playchess and see if you as sysop of the room have truly done an honest job and been fair. I would advise you to see how Harvey is handling the situation and perhaps you guys might learn something. Harvey if you wish to talk to me about the on going problems a lot of us are having in the engine room with Holgar and Rob, I believe you and I are mature adults who can come to an agreement. As I have stated above, I have no problems with you, and you have never disrespected me or anyone on there. I respect you and would be open to hear what you have to say.
