Nomination as Mod

Post by beachknight »

Dear members,

I am nominated as a member of moderation team for the coming term.
 & :o

I have to decline the nomination because of several reasons, mainly
because:

-- I dont think that I have a good command of the language;

-- I am happy with the current moderation team.

I'd like to thank to you all for your patience with me.

:)

Best, HT

I am the guilty party, unless someone else beat me to it.

You only need one English sentence:
"Stop doing that!"
-- I am happy with the current moderation team.
I no longer serve more than one term consecutively, so I won't consider myself eligible until the term after this next one.

I'd like to thank to you all for your patience with me.

:)

It's a volunteer position (so nobody has to do it unless they feel inclined). The pay is lousy ($0.00/hour). The work is lousy (nobody wants to play nanny). Everyone will eventually be rubbed the wrong way and feel utter disgust at you.

Other than that, it's a great job.

Could you translate that into English, please ... Assuming it is Turkish, Babylon translates it into

Code: Select all

Si to become beautiful am day that time and a male shady brother.

Hi,

Google translator: have a nice day then, my brother chuck

Not that it is much better...

I won't mention how Romanian translations look like. I won't understand them myself..

I lived in Turkey for a couple years. My Turkish is terrible, but it was a pale attempt at:
"Have a nice day then, my dear brother."

Turkish is quite an irregular language for translation into latin languages especially for computers. Being a professional translator I'll try to explain it a bit. First of many differences is the syntax of the language. The order in which pronouns, verbs, adjectives etc are used in a sentence in English is completely reversed in Turkish. In addition we have all the small articles built into the words. In order to explain this I will give one example. "I will be able to go" can be translated in to Turkish in one word as "gidebileceğim". For these and similar other reasons Turkish and many other languages are almost impossible for a computer to translate. Better ask a friend who speaks the language like Harun Taner himself :)
