Re: Standings after Round 30 of 44
Gábor, one of our blitz testers, got nearly 100 time losses out of about 700 games, so there is clearly a serious problem with Dabbaba 7.49

I'll send you the debug files for all of the Dabbaba games once the tournament has been completed.JBNielsen wrote:What happens, Graham?
Dabbaba has lost its last 15 games!
Are you treating him well?
Don't feed him with poor chips!
I had a look at some of the games (round 19-24).
It is not easy to read the score/depth/time; many weird values.
But I can see the moves.
3R4/3Q1pk1/p2p2p1/4p1P1/3nP2P/3qB1K1/8/8 w - - 9 76 ; 76.Rd8g8?? looses - Soldat
Dabbaba 7.49 has an error.
It sometimes misses to evaluate the position when the Q-search starts.
My current version does not make this 76.Rd8g8?? error.
But this error should only be a 40-elo error.
2r3k1/p2q2pp/3p4/Q2P4/1RP1pP2/4P3/P6P/7K w - - 1 29 ; 29.Rb4a4?? looses - Cupcake
8/1B6/P5k1/3p1p2/2qb3p/8/6PK/4Q3 b - - 7 105 ; 105.Qc4c3?? looses immediately - Butcher
I cannot reproduce these terrible errors.
Probably an error in the hash-tables (that has been there for years...)
Perhaps I can start the game a few moves earlier and then reproduce the error?!
That would give me a chance to find and fix it.
Does dabbaba.exe still have its dabbaba.ini file in the same directory?
Does dabbaba produce a big log-file?
Writing to the disc all the time could slow it down.
I have seen such a file a few times lately.
best, jens
That way, you can investigate.

What a nightmare; 18 lost games in a row.
But anyway; thanks for the tournament.

When I play gauntlets with dabbaba 7.49 (game in 1 minute on a rather old laptop); it only looses ca. 1% by time forfeit.Modern Times wrote:Gábor, one of our blitz testers, got nearly 100 time losses out of about 700 games, so there is clearly a serious problem with Dabbaba 7.49

I'm as disappointed as you are that Dabbaba hasn't done better, so hopefully the debug files might help pinpoint some issues to address.
Graham.
