Strelka 5.7 MP x64- A Very Interesting Start!!

Post by geots »

Just started my first game with Strelka 5.7MP vs. Stockfish 3 JA x64 with each using 4 cores. Interesting that Strelka has the black pieces and in the endgame they are on move 180. Strelka is up 2 connected pawns- but it is a dead draw because the only other pieces they have are opposite colored bishops with the white King blocking promotion. Other than a great game to watch as Strelka's first for me with 4 cores- it doesn't have any particular significance.

2 connected pawns and opposite bishops doesn"t mean a dead draw even if king controls promoting squares.

It dépends if pawns are on the same rank or not, 5th or 6th rank, defending bishop mobility, ...

Youri Averbach explains this very well in his book "Bishop Endings".

Great Book !

Something told me that my mouth was likely overloading me when I made that statement. Tho it did end in a draw, analysis is for sure not my strong suit.

Thanks and best,
