Mr. Kaufman, I wonder why Dragon 2 MCTS has not used the b1 Bishop yet, Not only that is playing handicap without a Knight, but also without its Bishop so far, is Komodo Dragon2 MCTS playing without a good Knight Odds Opening ?

I suppose you mean the c1 bishop. By doing the rook lift Ra1-g3 it made it unnecessary to move that bishop, although it doesn't have a clear role at the moment. The opening was fine, and Dragon has not played any clearly wrong moves yet, but we're still down a piece. At least it's better to be down a piece in a messy position than to be down a piece in some symmetrical endgame! But Chris is playing well.

I’m just playing positional, and quite a few moves are really one option only. My theory/hypothesis is that once we’re, say, at move ten or so, white is not going to have any forced winning line, so as long as black plays “sound positional” moves according to “sound theme” and the game moves forward (pawns can’t go backwards) then we ought to gradually simplify down to piece ahead with not so many pieces on the board. White must keep pressing, while black can mostly just sit tight. That knight on e5 for example (you’ll probably also have read Fischer in 60 best, on knight e5, Sicilian after white f5). I think I probably had to prepare and do the c6 break when I did it, I think I may have got careless and overlooked something with e6, but we will see. Danger is game simplifies to ending where black thinks it’s good, but engine already saw something tricky it can do.

This game can easily last another 65 to 75 Moves, which can take up to another 10 days entertaining us, even if Chrisw is able to keep the Knight advantage to the very end it will be a tough endgame to win

Sorry. I miscalculated, this game can easily last another 25 to 35 Moves, which can take up to another 7 days entertaining us, even if Chrisw is able to keep the Knight advantage to the very end it will be a tough endgame to win

Mr. Kaufman what effect does a good Knight Odds Opening book has, or should I say if you were using a Knight Odds Opening book for this match, would the position be more favorable at this point than it is? I believe that to a great extent the result of a match between a top engine and a semi correspondence player like in this match depends on whether the engine has a good Knight opening book .
