I’m sure this has been tried before, but let’s try it again. I’ve registered talkchess.org. Time for a mirror and switch? Then let the chessprogramming wiki and others know?

That's good but what remains is that the owner should allow us to make a copy of the database and we (HGM and me) did not get that permission.

The owner of the domain or the owner of the forum or the owner of the content? These are not necessarily the same party.

Well, unless there is a waiver in the signup, the forum content belongs to each author. That’s already been decided many times over.

Re: Moderator Elections
One other approach:
1. Create a new forum under talkchess.org.
2. Lock talkchess.com and inform visitors about the new site.
3. Redirect any nonexistent pages from talkchess.org to talkchess.com
4. Inform chess websites about the new site/URL’s.
5. All new signups and discussion take place on the new forum.
Unless Ed’s purpose is to kill off talkchess, he won’t keep obstructing.

Re: Moderator Elections
Until the matter is fully resolved why can't we continue posting at this presumptive new forum?
It would be one way to send a message that a change is needed.
Of course, there would also be questions about who would control the new forum. That could open a new can of worms.

Re: Moderator Elections
What ?!
The matter who owns the database from a juridical point of view is far from clear. When Quentin hinted to that I saw that as a warning.
I am informing the forum about the current state, no need to make sarcastic remarks.
