Hi all,
I have just successfully setup Arena 3.5.1 on my laptop (Windows 10, intel i5, 4GB memory).
When I tried to run Arena, I encountered the following error:
Application Error
Exception EReadEror inmodule Arena.exe at 0Q020F3B.
Error reading KommenarRichEdit.Lines.Strings: RichEdit line insertion error.
Would appreciate your help to resolve the issue, please. Thank you.
Best regards,
Koh, Kah Huat

Use BanksiaGUI, it's much easier, better, and has a great active developer.Kohflote wrote: ↑Sat Jan 14, 2023 6:51 am Hi all,

Well, Arena should run and it is still the preferred choice of GUI for many people. Hopefully someone can help with it. 4GB is not a lot of RAM, potentially that is an issue.

4GB is an insanely large amount of RAM. I was already running Arena when 256MB was about the maximum you could install on a PC. WinBoard occupies about 4MB (according to the task manager).

How Windows10 logs a memory error in an application?Modern Times wrote: ↑Sat Jan 14, 2023 10:25 am Well, Arena should run and it is still the preferred choice of GUI for many people. Hopefully someone can help with it. 4GB is not a lot of RAM, potentially that is an issue.
chatGPT:
Windows 10 has a built-in feature called the Event Viewer that allows you to view system and application logs, including logs for memory errors in an application. Here are the steps to access the Event Viewer and find memory error logs:
Press the Windows key + X, and then select "Event Viewer" from the menu.
In the Event Viewer window, navigate to Windows Logs > Application.
Look for any events with a "Warning" or "Error" level that mention "memory" or "out of memory". These events will provide more information about the memory error and may include the name of the application that caused the error.
Double-click on the event to view more details, including a description of the error and any relevant data such as the process ID and module name.
If you can't find any memory-related errors or if you need more information, you can also check the System log by navigating to Windows Logs > System, or the Application log by navigating to Windows Logs > Application.
It's also worth to mention that you can use other tools like performance monitor or task manager to check the memory usage of your application. These tools allow you to see the memory usage of your application over time, which can help you identify any memory leaks or other memory-related issues.

Re: Help: Arena GUI problem running
Well, there are fairly detailed instruction in the post above to try and trouble-shoot it.
As HG says, it probably isn't a memory issue but that depends on what else is running on the machine at the time. With just 4GB, Windows 10 doesn't have too much left to play with, but certainly enough just for Arena itself.

You may want to allow one of the trusted experts here remote access to your machine if you can't find the problem yourself.

Re: Help: Arena GUI problem running
I remember having similar issues a few years ago. I resolved my issues with Arena by running it as administrator for a few days. Also, you can try doing a windows resolution event with the windows helper. I think it is called the windows compatibility helper.
Good luck with that.

I did a re-check; actually my laptop has 8Gb of RAM. Still has the same problem even I run arena gui using administrator.
