Dan, all good reasons.
I didn't realize 5v1 files were missing.
I would definitely like to add them to my collection.
As for 7 man Nalimov files, wow, that would be amazing. But to quote Jaws....you're gonna need a bigger hard drive!
If the missing 6-man files are created, would the existing engines, such as Houdini be able to use them or does it require mods to the existing code base?
The changes are described in the newly included changelog.
To answer your question, yes, 5 vs 1 TBs can be generated (it's not possible to do so yet, but I'm working on it), but existing sources to the probing code of engines must be updated as well to include them.

The missing 5 v 1 files will not add to engine strength in any meaningful way. The main desire for these files is statistics. How many draws are there in K v KNNQP ? for example.
There may be some very odd quirky draws, but I guess any decent engine will find them anyway just with search.
Taking ideas is not a vice, it is a virtue. We have another word for this. It is called learning.
But sharing ideas is an even greater virtue. We have another word for this. It is called teaching.

The main practical reason for generating 5v1 would be for generating 5v2.
Thanks for the 5v1
I have a friend who has been yearning for the statistics for those files.
