For engine KnightX must put in arguments box the configuration file (knightx.cfg) if I want to declare Knightx as winboard engine?
In general we put the name of confguration file in arguments box for winboard engines?

Re: Myracle GUI
just tried the new KnightX 5.0, to use it as xboard (it's detected as uci, because it has dual-protocol support), you do the following:
1) change protocol from uci to xboard
2) go to options tab and click detect, otherwise it'd keep UCI options (then setup the desired xboard options)
as for command line arguments, yes you can pass command line arguments to the engine using the arguments edit;
however this is specific to each engine. I'm not familiar with KnightX commandline arguments or configuration files,
but some winboard engines use configuration or ini files, some load them automatically I think

Re: Myracle GUI
just tried it here and knightx loads the knightx.cfg file automatically. no need to put anything in the arguments box

Re: Myracle GUI
the easiest way to install new engines in myracle is as follows:
go to tools/engines, click +, the click ... next to Command:
locate the engine executable and that's it
it will detect the protocol automatically (UCI preferred) as well as the engine name, the working folder and engine options
(note that KnightX supports UCI as well)

locate the engine executable and that's it

(note that KnightX supports UCI as well)

Re: Myracle GUI
build 141 is up:
- fix: move dock no longer rescrolls when a quiet tournament game starts (also an open output/strings/debug combobox no longer closes when a new game starts)

Re: Myracle GUI
Has anyone tried a tournament with build 141 ? Obsidian 16 won't run now, an error message that the C:\Syzygy5 path has changed. Same on two machines. Is it just the exe and gui_data files that are needed for 141 on an existing installation ?

yes gui_data and binary should do.
do you have the exact error message? it looks like a default value for an UCI parameter has changed compared to what was stored in engine settings before (or: possibly imported settings from an older engine version?)
it's a relatively recent feature that prevents certain kind of bugs, so the GUI refuses to run the engine if saved default value for an option changes compared to what is saved in engine settings
this typically happens if you update engine binary to a new version and the author has changed a default value of some uci parameter
this is quite dangerous and something like this happened with Princhess before - in recent princhess default values for time management have changed,
but since the GUI had stored values of a previous version, it actually changed the values to the old default - this resulted in invalid tests, costing elo.
so I've decided that this will never happen again with Myracle and added this check in some of the recent builds.
in order to fix this, you can go to engine settings for obsidian and click detect and that's all that should be needed.
please let me know if it helped

Re: Myracle GUI
which reminds me that such check is completely pointless for SyzygyPath option and should be removed...
