NOW is a sentimental favorite of mine. I have swapped many programming thoughts with the author online; he has tried many original ideas, and is happy to share results.

The problem is with those extremely original ideas, the program might improve a lot, or it might start acting funny. I did test few versions of Now, and the results were not stable from version to version.BubbaTough wrote:NOW is a sentimental favorite of mine. Yes, I watched NOW get weaker over the course of time for a while. That is just life when you want to try a lot of different things and can't really do thorough testing on them. For me, it helps me enjoy NOW more not less, as I watch it morph. If the only goal is program strength its not so good...but the approach is more fun. When developing actively, I would say LearningLemming, NOW, and Romi are all programs that tend to bubble with more crazy ideas than can be accurately tested...but since Romi has a dedicated tester its perturbations of strength do not make it to the publicTony Thomas wrote:The problem is with those extremely original ideas, the program might improve a lot, or it might start acting funny. If you had included Sage 353, I would certainly have picked in TOP TEN.swami wrote:I guess I missed downloading the latest version of Sage engine.beachknight wrote:Hi gang,
Intermediate report
Following engines are out of equation in my tests:
-- I dont have versions of NOW.
-- Sage 353 performed much better than 351
who Swami includes in his tests.
-- Joker 1114w was suggested to use by HGM,
but I like 1117w.
-- Chispa and Natwarlal, I had not the chance
to include both of them in my new tests.
-- Asterisk lost all games with time forfeit.
Best,
You are right, Asterisk did lose some games in time. Joker 1114 better blitzer than 1117. 1117 had some bug fixed but plays worse compared to 1114!
I had few games with both Jokers. My impression is just the opposite of
yours. Perhaps a new Joker will clear our dispute on this matter.

I suppose your computer supports EM64T.swami wrote:I don't have 64 bits, I've only 32 bits.beachknight wrote: PS: Please note that I have employed x64 versions

You can install XP or Vista 64 bit as second OS.
Best,
PS: I tried installing linux as third OS to include
linux engines in my tests. Could not manage it.
Perhaps later.

I'd like to include best versions of Now, LL and
Romi in my tests. I'll be grateful for your help.

Sorry if my question sounds silly, but how do I determine whether or not my computer supports EM64T?
Thanks!
Re: Grand Blitz Tournament - 2 : Predict the Top 6 Engines!
Since you have a core2quad, it is safe to assume that the processor is 64bits. Now all you need is a 64bit operating system to take full advantage.swami wrote:Hi Harun, beachknight wrote:I suppose your computer supports EM64T.swami wrote:I don't have 64 bits, I've only 32 bits.beachknight wrote: PS: Please note that I have employed x64 versions
