No Steve
You need that ridiculous Fidelity tee shirt with the slash that made Sid Samole look like Captain Kirk from StarTrek when he operated his chess computers in various tournaments.
To Boldly Wear What No Man Has Worn Before Regards

Re: Paris 09 Dedicated Chess Computer Tournament
As per instructions by Sir Whitby ..i put on my Captain Video Tee-shirt and i decided to see if the Masters Performance rating of 2049 earned in the Paris training match could hold up under tougher competition
Scanning the ACTIVE elo lists i spotted the Novag Jade II sporting a 2052 Active elo which would preclude its participation at Paris(elo limit 2000 elo)
the Jade II is a small hand held peg sensory with a Kittinger program and a 13000 ply book
Game one has the MM with White and a far superior position right out of the opening.both computers were in book until move 7
however in mid-game the little J2 finds a startling resource that not only saves the game but turns the tables and wins outright!

Re: Paris 09 Dedicated Chess Computer Tournament
Some what disillusioned by its poor performance against the Jade II and in need of a confidence restoring pair of wins.. the Mobile Master challenged the Jade II's older and weaker brother the Jade I to a match
Strangely ..the Jade I does not have an established Active Elo rating
however the Computer Chess Magazine "Selective Search" does show a standard Elo of 1746 for it
this is 208 pts lower then the 1954 standard elo of the Jade II(Selective Search) so by extrapolation we can guesstimate the Active elo of the Jade I to be perhaps 200 elo lower then the Jade II's..putting it at about 1750
cannon fodder for the Mobile...or so it seemed...
the Jade I has an opening book of 12000 ply and is also programmed by Kittinger
Game one has the Jade I with white
the Master leaves book first at move 12

FINAL POSITION
[d] 6k1/7p/p2pQ1pb/5p2/1P6/P1rqB1PP/4RK2/8 b - - 0 59
a draw by perpetual against the lowly Jade I
What is it with these Brothers Jade Regards?
Steve

Re: Paris 09 Dedicated Chess Computer Tournament
To provide an even number of computers (easier for Swiss Pairing)there will be a "10th" computer added to the list of 9 combatants
The 1985 World Microcompter Chess Champion Mephisto Amsterdam.. rated 1924 Active Elo and programmed by Richard Lang
As the first round game for next weeks Paris tournament is to begin at 4:00 AM EST i have been asked by the Tournament Director to complete my first round game this weekend before the main event
i will join the tournament live at the start of the second round(5:30 AM EST)
Therefore ,,,this weekend.. the Mighty Fidelity Mobile Master (1985 US Open Champion)armed with the Fide Eco opening book Module set will have white against the WC Mephisto Amsterdam and its 24000 ply book
TC 30 Sec.Avg
For The Money Regards

White is up a Pawn and neither computer realizes yet that Black now has a won game
the MM Scores this as +1.08 and the Amsterdam -.2
the problem of course is White will soon have to lose its B to stop the soon to be created Passed A pawn
