Romi BetaNG2 early results

Post by Tony Thomas »

Two of the 30 game matches are finished, both against the weakest engines. Performance against Lime is a record for Romi, Lime 6.3 was only able to score 1.5 points, only Chess Tiger and Naum managed a better score than that. Currently this beta is the strongest Romi ever, but results will change as the testing progresses.
Next two matches will be against two of the strongest engines in the group, Chess Tiger 2007.1 and Naum 2.0.

Code: Select all

 RomiChessNG2 : 2465 60 (+ 46,= 7,- 7), 82.5 %

Lime 6.3 : 30 (+ 27,= 3,- 0), 95.0 %
GreKo 5.2 : 30 (+ 19,= 4,- 7), 70.0 %

Hi Tony,

I am hopeful, but, not confident. :(

OTOH, I already have an even better one! :D

If Richard wants, you can send him the Romi beta, so he can run his own independant test. 8-)

That would be nice :)

As for the new version... there is one in progress, I promise, but the summer months have to allow room for my other hobby as well!

I think that 73.3% vs Zeus is a new record as well, but, I may be wrong about that. Strange that Romi aught to do better against Naum than Zappa. I still think that this wide variance is caused by a big random patterns from the opening books. Hopefully it averages out over the course of 360 games. But then there is no guarantee of that. If you can find the patients to rerun the match after it is finished we may be able to better judge just what random results that the opening books may be having.

BTW, Romi has a new record against Hamsters, but only a half point, 64.5.
