Q: When can we expect the first release of Rybka Aquarium [GUI]?
Victor Zakharov: ... Rybka 3 and Aquarium will be released at the same time... I recommend checking the news pages at the end of May.

Interesting article indeed... I guess Harvey's fish recipies helped them with picking the name.

Interesting to hear something about the new GUI. The analysis features sound very much like Chess Assistant's, but I never did get on with using a tree for storing analysis results, so I hope it's clearer in Aquarium. We shall see!!

Re: Rybka 3 and Rybka Aquarium
I've been beta testing the Rybka 3 GUI for a week now. It has held up well for Engine vs Engine matches. I have tested Hiarcs, Shredder, Naum, Crafty, Rybka, Delfi, Zappa, Scorpio, Glaurung, and Toga so far. The engines were 64bit and 32bit, Winboard and UCI, as well as MP and SP processors. All worked well under the Rybka 3 GUI except the 64bit compile of Glaurung which I think is a compile bug in Glaurung.
I have been testing it on a Core2Duo running Vista 64bit OS and a P4 32bit system running Windows XP. While I have not tested it yet on Linux, there are some testers who are, and it does appear to work under Linux as well.
I think some of the testers here, such as George Tsavdaris and Eelco de Groot as well as others (Postal player Uri Blass comes to mind) will like the Deep Analysis feature of in the Rykba 3 GUI, I know that I do. If you have used Chess Assistant, then you and clearly see that the GUI owes it roots to it, but I feel there are alot of improvements over it (Chess Assistant). I do also feel that users will come to start expecting more from their Chess GUI's of choice after using it.

For the Opening Book people such as Dr.Wael Deeb, I think you will be happy to know that it can view .ctg file data. Though I myself have not yet tested this area, It is my understanding that as of now you can Use / View CTG books however you cannot edit them.
For the Players out there such as Eduard Nemeth and Fernando, there are regular playings modes for them as well. I am sure Fernando will love the handicap mode!
The thougt of losing to Rybka or any other engine at odds just does wonders for ones ego!
Anyway, I'll tell you more when I learn more ...

I am also interested in the engine-engine tournament feature, can you say a few words about it,is it near the Arena one regarding quality

Now you are trying to get me in trouble with Christopher Conkie
I think it is equal to Arena when it comes to Engine vs. Engine Matches and Tournaments. Now as for myself, I prefer it because now I can use ctg books as well if I understand things correctly, note as I said before I have not tested this (.CTG books) for myself yet. I would like to revisit this and all questions about the GUI once the newness of the GUI wears off for me and my excitement dies down.
Right now I like it because its new, attempts to do new things and pushes the bar a little higher.

I certainly want to see a lot of features for example, swiss/roundrobin/knock out/ team etc These all are integral part in a chess GUI, for me.AdminX wrote:
