Comparison between FXChess and CSTAL exe. files

Post by fern »

Fx exe:
5005312

Chesstal:
3185664

Fx brings all other files Cstal brings. Some differences in size, but always BIG sizes.

I suppose a better comparison should be made putting both programs in the very same position and conditions.
My guess; both are exactly the same.

Let us know if you find any differences by testing them under the same conditions. It would be interesting to see how various derivatives like FXChess compare with CSTAL II. I would guess that they are different because the executables are not the same size.

You wish, the only reason I didnt say that is because I am not interested in any private protocol only engines..

Hi Fernando !

CSTALII. exe=3,185,664 bytes. Ok ! But here isn't only the engine. Most of they are GUI files. If your assumption is correct let us know please the sizes of the CSTALII & Fx engine files.

Regards& thank you for your researches !

its completely unimportant how BÌG the exe or the engine is.
setup the same position. let them compute. and take care for NPS and evals and search depth. then you can see if this is a 2.03 clone.

there have been several CSTAL clones. some run 1/2 speed of original cstal2.03. others maybe not.

anyway. this is only historical stuff.

more important is IMO if the bitboard parallel CSTAL3 will be continued.
and who will be doing this.

Hi !

You are right but I don't have the Fx engine .
Nice to see a new CSTAL engine ( maybe an UCI implementation too ).Years ago -alongside Fritz & Chessmaster- CSTAL was one of my preferred chess engine.

BTW, you still does not answer my question about the likelihood to get CSTAl 3. In fact you do not even answer the more simple question about if Cstal 3 is a workable engine or not.
May I get an answer?

My best
