Twisted Logic against CB oldies (repeated)

Post by Mike S. »

8m+2s, AthlonXP@1439 MHz
128 MB hash each (Tiger 96 MB)
default pawn hash for TL (1 MB)
Balanced-16.CTG (normal, min.3)
ponder off, Fritz 8-GUI
3- and 4-piece tablebases
(not accessed by F 5.32 and TL)

I repeated yesterday's match, but with default pawn hash size of 1 MB instead of 8 MB. Also, the openings were different but the book used (for all) was the same.

Code: Select all

Twisted Logic 20080620 - Fritz 5.32 3.0 - 3.0 +3/-3/=0 50.00%
Twisted Logic 20080620 - Fritz f.Fun 4 (8.130) 2.0 - 4.0 +0/-2/=4 33.33%
Twisted Logic 20080620 - Gambit Tiger 2.0 4.5 - 1.5 +3/-0/=3 75.00%
Twisted Logic 20080620 - Nimzo 8 4.0 - 2.0 +4/-2/=0 66.67%
Twisted Logic 20080620 - Shredder 7.SE 4.5 - 1.5 +4/-1/=1 75.00%
Total result 18.0/30 (previously: 11,0/30). The performance in the second tournament represents a blitz level of ~2770 (CCRL) or ~2740 (CEGT). Yesterdays performance was only ~2600/2570. I don't know if the pawn hash size is responsible for the big difference, or if there is some statistical luck involved, or both. It have been only 30 games, each.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the test result.

I will try to review the code for possible pawn hash size bug.
