Can your engine find Petrosian's excellent move and why is it so strong!?

the Exalibur King Arthur Deluxe wants to play Rc1 returning a score of +.6
while the Mephisto Master also wants to play Rc1 but it believes it is behind -.9
i shall let them run for several more hours and if anything changes(unlikely) i will report back

Thanks Steve,it's a tough position indeed....
BTW,a lot of strong commercial engines also find Rc1 as the best move,so your babies are doing just fine till now....Mephisto Master is a little bit more accurate as the black are slightly better in this position although the game ended with a draw....
P.S.I have more than 664 games of Petrosian which I will go through and post the most interesting positions,I am afraid that I'll fry most of your units though

Well after over 8 hours they both are sticking with Rc1
the Master hit 14 ply and shows
1.Rc1 Qd6 2.Qc3 Qd7 Eval..-.9
King Arthur managed to hit 8 ply .. still sticking to Rc1 but his Majesty did come down to an Eval of +.4 from +.6

my units will probably not find any of Petrosians surprising and winning movesDr.Wael Deeb wrote:Thanks Steve,it's a tough position indeed....

but ..
will the top rated ..high powered engines ..running on dual cores, quads and Octos find them?
remember these moves were made under tournament time controls of 40/2
if we set a time limit of say 3 minutes to move
i say that the Rybkas and Fritz's of today will not find many of them either
Unless they are obvious recaptures regards
Steve

Thanks for analysing the position....
P.S.Note that I go through Petrosian's unannotated games to seek the most hard and stunning moves made by this chess genius....

we can see that even though your thread has well over 200 views..only one engine manages to find Pertrosian's move
and after almost 30 minutes at that
we know that others must have tried their favorite engines and they have had no success
.. because view totals are high and there are no posts
it is human nature not to post when an engine does not find a move

Petrosian V todays Engines...
No match regards

Of course it was you that enlighted me to start posting positions from Petrosian's games and as a reward you will get roughly around 666 ones
