Two Super GM make 10 point blunder on same move

Post by kgburcham »

I have been collecting GM and Super GM Tournament Blunders.
Here is an example of one of those blunders. Here is a 10 point move that both 2750 GMs miss. Almost every tournament I have checked this year has several of these, not a 10 point blunder but most games have 2,3, or 4 point blunders. Complete game below.

number of points is clearly unimportant

I believe that Carlsen can win it against rybka even after his "blunder"
that is only about winning the games more slowly.

The only significantl blunder is Radjabov's blunder

On many occasions a human will chose the more "clear" win where you simplify into a won ending rather than calculate where complications favor him. With complications there is a larger chance of a missed tactical shot, so a human is much more likely to liquidate into a won ending. I don't see anything wrong with that and I don't consider that a blunder.

Sometimes, yes, but in this case I think Carlsen just missed the best move because of time trouble. The win was probably still there, but more difficult.

I'm not sure games at this time control should even be rated as classical games.
