Suggestion for CHESSBASE

Post by Kirk »

Chessbase has been reluctant to allow their Fritz engine to be ported to other GUI's. I doubt that will change anytime soon.

A compromise solution. Maybe they could sell the PREVIOUS version as an independant UCI engine. People will still have motivation to get the most recent engine, and they may even make additional money from people buying the separate engine, even it it is an older one.

So sell Fritz 10 UCI engine while Firtz 11 is out. And the Fritz 11 UCI when 12 comes out.

At least it is a compromise, albeit not a perfect one.

I didn't buy Fritz 11. If it comes as UCI I still won't buy it and I bought Fritz 10 even though it's not UCI. Perhaps the hassle to make a UCI version won't be worth it.
