A suggestion to testers

Post by Bill Rogers »

It would be very nice if when holding a tournement if when posting the names of the enities if at the same time you would post their ELO strength.
I realize that we can always look up that information but rather than go through that in my opinion if the ELO's were posted then I would know immediately if I wanted to download the games or not.
I am trying to collect all games where the programs are rated at 2800 or above and at the same time I only keep wins and loses. Draws to me are of no interest as I am in the process of creating a huge data base of winning games.

For Tony H.
Yes I can cut and paste but when I do that I have not been able to make the data useable as a pgn type file that Arena can use. I have tried dozens of different ways to do this but none work.

Hi Bill,

Have you tried notepad2 or other text editor?

XP's or Vista's default notepad could well be
the cause of your problems.

You probably saved it as .txt. To edit, try this.

1. Click "My Computer"
2. Go to the directory where you saved the games (.txt file).
3. Click Tools>Folder Options>View
4. Uncheck "Hide extensions of known file types"
5. Right click on your .txt file and rename it to .pgn

Or simply open an existing .pgn file in Notepad and paste the games there.

Hope this helps.
