Chessbase 10

Post by MindWars »

Does anyone know if and how you can create your own chess training DVD's,
with training arrows, videos, etc, like the ones Chessbase creates, using
Chessbase 10? Is there some other software that can do this?

Also, is there a way to create a diagrammed position pdf file from Chessbase
10?

No, I checked into this with Chessbase 9 and nothing has changed in this area. Chessbase wants to control this area of marketing.

I don't have Chessbase, but I thought it let you create html files of diagrammed positions? If so, then you can find third party programs that can create pdf files from the html files, e.g. CutePDF.

Shame chess base does not incorporate this feature. Perhaps Aquarium will  when it gets on it's feet.

If you have a PDF creator program installed on your system such as Adobe Acrobat 9. (Full version not the Reader) Then you can create .PDF's by printing to the Acrobat install printer.

The reason chessbase does not support this option is they want to control video quality and want to be the only ones who can directly sell videos.

Regarding the PDF print driver, it is actually free and comes by default on mac os X, and is a default package in linux. For windows users, download a free pdf printer driver from http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/ for example

:D i don't think chessbase 10 has it.

as most here observed, chessbase wants sole control over this.

 :!: but can it be done in MS word or openoffice.

"pgn" for the diagrams, then using their "macros" function to insert videos :?: :?: :?:

Try using http://camstudio.org/ and making the moves yourself (to get the arrows).

Convert any document to PDF using http://www.dopdf.com/.

Both are Freeware.

It's not the same though. With a ChessBase-created package the moves (game position) and video are synchronised, allowing you to skip back to a particular move and video skips to the correct place (though it does appear a bit clunky). This is a very powerful feature. It's a shame you cannot make your own, but you can probably understand the reason. $$$$$
