Perplexed

Post by Nimzovik »

On my Win xp pro 64 bit machine with 4 GB of ram I can only (in Fritz 11 GUI) get 2455 of my ram for my engines even tho the interface itself says I can utilize 3069! This started to happen after I loaded Rybka 3 if I remember correctly. Any ideas gentlemen? Thanks in advance.

maybe there's nothing wrong...

sometimes 1 GB = 1000 MB and 1MB = 1000 KB
other times 1 GB = 1024 MB and 1GB = 1024 MB, etc.

depends on the manufacturer, programmer, etc..
ofter memory and hard disk manufacturers utilize 1000 , because it reports a larger total, and looks impressive.

so it's possible that 2455 (1024) ~ 3069 (1000)...if you catch my drift.

It is noteworthy that Rybka is not presently designed to use more ram than 2 GB (at least in uneven multiples) apparantly as indicated at Vas' site. He has indicated he may remedy this at a later date with a patch I have subsequently learned since I posted this question. :)
