Hello Steve B

Post by Bill Rogers »

Hi Steve
I did not know how to get your attention so here i am. You asked me to give a list of the chess computers that I recently bought on Ebay. I bought them all within a 1 or 2 week period. I had a couple to start with but I am including them here too. My old ones will have an "*" after their number.

Handhelds:
1.* Tryom Electronic Chess (with LED readout)
2.* Novag Solo
3.* Novag Secondo
4.* Fedelity Chess Challenger (made illegal moves)
5. Excalibur Einstein LCD Chess Wizard
6. Excalibur Einstein Touch Chess
7. Chess King (nice black case)
8. Chess King (pink case)
9. Novag Super VIP
10. Novag Escort
11. Radio Shack Pocket Chess model 1100L
12. Mephisto Micro Travel
13. Excalibur LCD Computer Chess
14. Excalibur Touch Chess model 404
15. Excalibur LDC KeyChain Chess
16. Meteor System A
17. 2 in 1 Chess and Checkers
18. Fedelity Chess Challenger (to replace the old one)

Tabletops:
1.* Excalibur Stiletto II
2. Lexibook ChessManPro
3. Chess Challenger 7 (with original box)
4. Chess Challenger 7 ( w/0 box)
5. Keypton Jupiter
6. Radio Shack Companion Chess Computer
7. IVAN The Terrible
8. Kasparov Coach Partner
9. Excalibur Saver IV
10. Radio Shack model 1650
11. Fedility Classic
12. Radio Shack Chess & Checkers

I think the most I paid was about $30 for a couple of the better ones.
Let me know what you either think or know about the machines.

Hello once again.
It is brown and it is somewhere in the neighborhood of 15 or 20 years old, maybe even older. One 9 volt battery that does not last very long do to the LED display. I think I had an external power supply once but it must be lost. A European collector once offered to buy it from me but I did not sell.
With the exception of the Novags I don't think any of them can play very strong. You would know better than me on that. I did take pictures of the ones purchased on Ebay. I learned that from a guy on CCC called Steve.

well lets see..

your Chess Kings..
are they the small handheld portable ones??
perhaps you can treat us to a photo or two??

you mention two Chess Challengers in addition to the two Chess Challenger 7's
are you saying you have two original chess challengers??
the so called CC1's?

yes you are correct that only the Novag Super Vip plays a strong game but ratings are not so important when collecting
indeed my most valuable computers play a horrible game but they are worth a good penny

Studying your collection Regards
Steve

The Fedility Chess Challengers are the little hand helds with 64 levels of play. Most like rated at 1100 or less.
The two Chess Kings are the small portable handhelds. I did not realize they were the same because of the different packages.
Bill
P.S.
I have tried several times to post pictures here to no avail.

so i see your collection focuses on Portables
i know of a Dutch Collector that also has a collection mainly of portables
if you cant post a photo do you have the photos online somewhere?
if so you can post the link here
if not you can send me some of your photos and i would include them in my Collectors Album which is part of of the overall online site of my collection

You are correct. My old one was also a 16 key but it made mistakes during play, but only when things got tough.
