Hyper-Modern Play (ON)

This setting make HIARCS play in a more Hyper-Modern style. The default is ON. This setting in the past has sometimes been shown to increase the strength of HIARCS. Previously HIARCS 11 had this option OFF.

If it is true to its name, it must be that the engine in this mode tries to control the center with long range pieces, like e.g. a fianchettoed Bishop, rather than with pawns, which is the "classical" way to control it.

Thanks Ted -however been there done that. Christos thanks for the definiton. However my point is that it just ...does'nt. Play in a markedly hypermodern style. No engine comes to mind that does. At least in it's default settings. Perhaps someone configured a chess master personality? My goodness I know I tried!! If engines could really handle closed positions, fortresses -Nimzo's blockade, restraint or play like a Reti that would be something. The closest I have seen was Power Chess. (Kittinger if memory serves) Originally it was to be named Nimzo somethig or other if I remember the pre release press notes correctly. Indeed it even came with one of Nimzo's books in a electronic format. Deep Sigh........
