Have you considered using torrents for chess data distribution?

One of my machines has an entire disk dedicated to seeding torrents for Debian and Ubuntu distributions and it uploads up to 20 GB per day. The DVD-ROM images for the Debian distributions are over 4 GB each, so handling large files is not a problem.

It is not the machine utilization that is the problem it is the network bandwidth for downloads.

So many people pull so much data from my hobby web site that our commercial enterprise cannot serve data to our actual customers.

Another problem with torrents is that you have to use torrent clients to pull the data.

I did publish some stuff using torrents previously, but I was rather dissapointed with the kinds of queries against my torrent site, so I removed it.

So sorry about that. I am afraid the egbb downloads are most probably the problem. I think now enough testers already got them please remove them
and lets hope they give you back your bandwidth. It won't happen again
