CTS Server good for chess or gambling?
How do people see CTS? I play mostly as a guest since the thing is too fast for me but i can see on the message board some established guys in chess like UriBlass play there.

Only 4 people have voted but it looks like its gambling. There is no way in a few seconds you can scan the whole board and play the winning move. Funnily enough chess engines would love CTS.

I disagree.lonola wrote:Only 4 people have voted but it looks like its gambling. There is no way in a few seconds you can scan the whole board and play the winning move. Funnily enough chess engines would love CTS.
I often can see the right move in few seconds in part of the positions and it is dependent on the position.
I cannot solve every problem in CTS in few seconds but I can certainly solve many problems in CTS in few seconds with more than 99% confidence that I am correct.
I think that CTS server is good for chess in case that it is used in a correct way.

You cannot determine intentions using a poll, if it is possible to be used either way.
It is the same as asking:
"Is the purpose of the NCAA basketball tournament to determine a champion or for people to gamble on the games?"
Some people will gamble. Some people just want to see a champion. The intentions of the originators cannot be determined by our clairvoyance.
Most of the problems from that site are easy (I have mined all of them and put them into my own catalog to play with them).

That seems to be the point I was making. The actual chess is nought or if anything its just "weak" chess, its just gambling by choosing a move quickly. If you took the problems and thought for 10-30 seconds, they are solvable by most humans.Dann Corbit wrote:Most of the problems from that site are easy (I have mined all of them and put them into my own catalog to play with them).

I don't waste my time on such stupid places over the net....
I prefer to take part in my own running tournaments playing the strong chess engines running on my machine....

This is not correct that the problems are solvable by most humans in 10-30 seconds.lonola wrote:That seems to be the point I was making. part of them are easy but strong players usually do not get that part.

This is an old topic but who is the Jessica complaining in the CTS message board? Do girls/women have an interest in chess/chess forums or is that a bloke pretending to be a girl?
