This refers to the J.A build of Crafty 23.0 UCI running in Fritz GUI.
When Crafty is playing black its evaluation of the position is inverted for some reason. So if black were a rook it would display a score of +5 for white.
Any idea why this is happening??

It is an intensional feature

Matthias.
My engine was quite strong till I added knowledge to it.

Crafty reports scores using WPOV (white point of view). +5 is always good for white, -5 is always good for black. It has been that way since the first year or so of its existence.Matthias Gemuh wrote:Werewolf wrote:This refers to the J.A build of Crafty 23.0 UCI running in Fritz GUI.

It is an intensional feature. Bob can say more.
Matthias.
I did not follow your second sentence (if black were a rook it...) as I am not sure whether black is a rook up or a rook down. Most GUIs have an option to tell them the program uses WPOV for scoring. If you get this wrong for Crafty, when it is playing black the score signs will be inverted.

I'm impressed with Crafty 23.0. It's doing well in my testing so far (still early days though).
One thing I've noticed is that instead of accepting a draw by repetition, it resigns. This is under ChessGUI running it as a Winboard engine.
Matthias - I guess I need to check the box that says draws accepted/refused?
Cheers, Graham.

It's simply a conspiracy....Matthias is hanicapping the strong engines in his own GUI to open the path to his BigLion to join the elite groupGraham Banks wrote:I'm impressed with Crafty 23.0. It's doing well in my testing so far (still early days though).

Hi Doctor,
the reason you give is totally wrong

Correct is that I clash too often with Bob in discussions here, so ChessGUI frowns at Bob's engine

Hi Graham,
"accepted/rejected" is general and won't solve the draw/resign issue.
If you have a debug of such a resign, please send it to me.
Best,
Matthias.
