Cyclone 3.4....help please....

Post by Dr.Wael Deeb »

Hi,
Cyclone is causing big problems running under the Arena GUI :?: :?:
After it's last opening book move,it starts to calculate and suddenly the Arena claims that an illegal move has been made and Cyclone's opponents wins the game....this happens in 6 out of 10 games played....
The only thing I changed in the UCI configuration window is disabaling the Dynamic Hash option and setting it manualy like this:
1000000
5

Can anyone here tell me what is happining and where can I find the fastest compile of the program :?:
It's damn strong and it would be a big shame not to be able to test it....
Regards,
Dr.D

P.S.My OS is Windows XP x64....

3.4 is working without problems in my arena GUI on my XP 64 system.

i would guess it is a problem of your machine, or the installation of your gui, a corrupted file, an overclocked PC or the HDD has the files not accurate.

Thanks Thorsten for the fast reply :D
My machine is Q9650 and yes it's overclocked but it's running just fine....I run all day long matches in the Deep Fritz 11 GUI without any problems....maximum temperatures are around 58C....pretty cool for this processor.....
However I am still using Arena 1.1 and here maybe the key to solve the problem....but on the other hand it runs all the other engines just fine, why only Cyclone :?:

yes,... IMO you should upgrade your Arena version... 1.99ß4 and higher version 2 are pretty stable.

The only thing I changed in the UCI configuration window is disabaling the Dynamic Hash option and setting it manualy like this:

my changes are:
- bitbase path e.g. C:/egbb/
- Dynamic Hash disabled
- NPS and SPM standard (are not used parameters now)
- Hash 256 MB e.g.
- Max threads 1 e.g.

but I was running all my matches inside Arena 2.01 or Chessbase - and had no problems with it at all.

Thanks Werner,I am more than sure now that it's an Arena 1.1 issue as the engine runs perfectly under Deep Fritz 11 GUI....

The problem seems to be solved....the whole thing came from disabiling the Dynamic Hash option and using fixed time for the game + increment time control....
Now the engine works fine with Dynamic Hash option enabled :D
Thanks for your replies regards,
