Post by fern »

Just browsing over there I stumbled into this place, www.magnussoft.com [2009.
I wonder if our friend Martin Bryant wen commercial with his UCI colossus program, so improved, or it is just coincidence, if that is possible...

In fact Colossus is around 2500 elo. In any case I emailed Martin Bryant to get from him an answer.

Hello Fernando,

Would you please give me some background information on Colossus. I am not familiar with the program. I would consider purchasing it, if the engine/graphics and etc., are decent. Hard to tell from the link you posted. At 2500 ELO it would be very very difficult to beat, at least for a Patzer like myself :)

Cordially,

Sean

buried somewhere on that site (its a bit of a mess) there were some screen captures. it looked alright, but some gimmicky sets (with soldiers as pieces etc, unplayable imo) -- the 'real' chess sets didnt look any better than chessbase in 3D, probably worse.

of course colossus the engine (the original one) is available free & iirc plays at at least 2500 elo.
