Onno-Movei, G. Banks 2009

Post by jdart »

from one of Graham Banks' tournaments

bm Be3. Arasan gets this but it takes a looong time (Crafty seems to be slow on this too). Onno played it with a score of +2.99.

Twisted Logic at default favors Qf2 here with a 1.x+ score though increasing King Attacks Aggression Level from 4 to 9 finds Be3 immediately. Note that the default has Be3 as the second best move in the root. This means engines will find this with a higher king attacks scoring.

I can't show a very good result but at least can confirm what Edsel says, that Be3 should get high marks for King Safety :) I tried to bring down the nodecounts for the first move tried 1.Qd6 but so far this not a success because of the effect on later iterations these then get worse for unknown reasons. But Be3 seems to be a good move!

Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code in the first
place. Therefore, if you write the code as cleverly as possible, you
are, by definition, not smart enough to debug it.
