Robbolito is a fischer

Post by slobo »

Robbolito is a fischer!
He eats rybka all the time.

Great effort by Norman.
Congratulations, Norman.
Congratulations and many thanks to original authors,
who let to the community the source code.

Slobodan,

Please be aware that when you praise the original authors you may actually praise the Vasik Rajlich team or some other respected author.

Besides, I can't understand the congratulations to Norman who does practically nothing but cosmetic changes.

I don't think it was sensible of you to initiate a new flame war. Childish behaviour, I should say.
No, Gabor, I am not starting a new flame war.
I am only repporting what I´ve seen.
For me it was a pleasure to observe the Robbos fisching activities; and I like to share my pleasure with others.

It was like a reading Hemingway´s novel "The Old Man and the Sea"

Robbo Regards.

Hope Vas will fix the time problem in Rybka 4 that Robb has. :)
Some positions that Rybka doesn't see is also true of Robb.
Strange. :)

Best.

Gerold.

P.S. Most G.M's wish they could play as strong. as Rybka. :)

Just a thought, if something can be shown to be a clone cannot one prosecute that person for copyright infringement? Seems it never happens

of course you and many other people wish an new engine that is better like Rybka, but what is about if is a clone of it, something of both engines are equal, why ?

and why (authors) that have wrote a first engine that become at ones over 3000 elo, that is strange for me.

it is ones a clone or reverse engineering stolen program, and nothing else.

many real authors working on his engine over 10 or more years until become an strong state.

even i can also compile Robbo + some other changes, and of course rename it as "Bimbo Clone" or something else, and can say that is my original work of it.

best wishes,

ok, that is nice the source is open and we can learn new from Robbo like of other open sources.

but poor authors do copy the hole program of other, that is not accepted.

learn from others and doing your own idea inside that makes better have more sense to me.

The work must have a copyright to sue.
Try to sue someone in Russia. :) Or in lot of other countries.

Norman has the Windows equivalent of the midas touch. I'm glad you appreciate his efforts, but by the time he is done, the source is cluttered with completely unnecessary Windows calls, compilable only with some version of MSVC, and full of Windows structures and other definitions.

In other words, the source becomes useless to a large group of developers.

Hey Gerald good point, Hollywood loses millions by piracy but there is no easy way to find them

Hi friends, I only want to share my points of view
This programm (I dont know if is a clone or not) seem to be anti-Rybka engine, this weekend I run some test (vs Rybka 2.3.2a, with GambitSuit 2008, and Robbo crushed Rybka, but I noticed that , at least in the gambits, the program maintains its pieces restricted to the third line, some kind of Steinitz styles, Robbo play very bad the scandinavian gambit, it lost the 2 games (with switch colors),I´ve the impression that in open positions with dynamism it does not play well, lead by this impression I ran other test, this time vs Thinker 5.4D MP Inert Robbo won but with little margin, many people claim that this engine is stronger even than Rybka 3 but at least vs Thinker in gambits opening his performance down a lot, curiosly
