Kranium's work is notable. Even that ipplite is the strongest engine in the earth, few people want to develop it. I don't know why.
Bob is another hero, I suggest him to develop ipplite with cluster.[/b]

"Infamous" may be better than "notable" here.liuzy wrote:Kranium's work is notable.

No, I mean the word "infamous" may be a better choice than the word "notable" in the sentence that I quoted.perejaslav wrote:Under «here» do you mean your own brainzullil wrote:"Infamous" may be better than "notable" here.liuzy wrote:Kranium's work is notable.![]()

Yes, but it was also the strongest engione before Kranium put his hands on it...liuzy wrote:Even that ipplite is the strongest engine in the earth,
He improves strong open source engines, remove some bugs. But there are also others working on it. We can't decide who does the most efforts. It's just hosted by Kranium.

Very appropriate correction.Alexander Schmidt wrote:Yes, but it was also the strongest engione before Kranium put his hands on it...liuzy wrote:Even that ipplite is the strongest engine in the earth,

Norman has improved this strong open source engine:slobo wrote:Very appropriate correction.Alexander Schmidt wrote:Yes, but it was also the strongest engione before Kranium put his hands on it...liuzy wrote:Even that ipplite is the strongest engine in the earth,

- he completely ported the 1st code from linux to windows;
- it was very unstable; he got it stable;
- translated the complete codebase to English (took him one month)
- he has added features, like ponder, etc..
So, it was much more than removing bugs and hosting downloads…
But you are right, Alex: Norman is not the only one working on this program. I know the work of another one: Sentinel. He was working with Norman and made his own versions of the code by three original authors.
For example, lets have a look at the last Igorrit version, made by Sentinel:
Igorrit 0086v9_w32_2cpu vs Rybka 3 w32_2cpu 12 (+ 5,= 7,- 0), 70.8 %.
Conclusion: We have more than one heroe, including the "founding fathers", the three programers known by pseudonyms, and all previous programers quated by them.

If by that you mean "ruined" it, I'll agree. It is easy to isolate the windows/linux differences to 2 files, totaling 2KB, one of which is the only one that needs windows.h. I should add that the only compiler dependent changes I made in that file were to silence warnings during the windows.h #include, but since it's just a quick couple #ifdef directives, the file is compiler agnostic too.slobo wrote:- he completely ported the 1st code from linux to windows;
I don't know what you mean unless it was instability that stemmed from other changes he made. Other than a gigantic list of warnings, I had no trouble with robbolito nor ippolite running on a mips32 device for over a week each playing 24/7.slobo wrote:- it was very unstable; he got it stable;
I agree with these.slobo wrote:- translated the complete codebase to English (took him one month)

I think that if one person is blamed on this forum for certain things that person should have the right to defend itself.I am not sure that Norman has that right and that is not fair.
He has been banned for a long time and should have the right to participate in the function of this forum as a chess programmer.
