technical support: i can't log onto FICS

for some reason i can't log on to FICS, which i'd like to be able to do to kib the upcoming tourney. i can't even connect to the server. can you guys help me troubleshoot this?

You need to download a server to connect there... something like :

i have babas chess, but just get a cannot connect to server error when i try to login.

i changed some timeseal settings and got a 'connection failed (error code=0x274C)' if that means anything.

afaik my router and firewall settings are fine.

edit: aha. i found an alternate port setting in babaschess and that did the trick. problem resolved.

I have a normal account on FICS. How can I watch the games? Or is it only for people who has computer accounts?

It is not only for people who have computer accounts. Add channel 64 and 49 i think (+ch 64). 49 is the tounrnament channel and 64 is the computer chess channel.

You will be able to see the parings and such in channel 49

Thanks for the reply Audy. I am new to FICS so I have no much experience with it. I added both channels 49 and 64. I can see them with the command "=channel". I guess typing "games" is enough to see the pairings or should I get in the channel first? In that case, how do I do that?
