Re: iPhone 4 Chess Challenge: iStockfish entered the tournam
Hi,
you welcome!
iStockfish crashed M-Chess Pro 7.1 in the 1. Game of the match....
The 2. Game is running at the moment....and another sicilian defense like the 1. Game.....
to name the iPhone strongest engines.....result of my tests so far...the tests not finished....
1. Stockfish / Hiarcs are in the strongest level...i expect both to have more than 2600 ELO...
2. Shredder (could be stronger but has not the right time level for my test games!) it lot of fun to play with shredder....
3. Fritz (some time control problems...use only a few minutes in time control 1h / per game...) weaker than Shredder....
4.) Chess Genius, not so strong like the other engines but strong enought for most players i expect it around 2250 ELO

Thanks for your response.
I hope you get to try tchess pro, heard great things about this chess app. Apparently it has more features than other programs.

Re: iPhone 4 Chess Challenge: iStockfish entered the tournam
Thanks for the games. I think it is funny but probably the platform with the highest interest in engine performance is the Iphone-Android platform. That is the place to make money if you take the time to optimize and port your engine. I would expect that Vas would make 100X more by porting to Iphone rather than building a remote Rybka Cluster setup. As hardware improves, it will become much easier to port available engines to these smaller hardware platforms ... I am still not sure if this has happened. Earlier Rybka versions did not seem to port well as their architecture seemed to require fast processors and a large memory footprint ... that is why maybe Hiarcs would do better. But it seems that the latest generation mobile platforms are already going dual core and with much larger memory footprints. Who knows, once they go 64bit (probably some can already do that) a phone that can play 3000 ELO chess might not be that far away. Of course you could already easily get that by simply using remote hardware and Stockfish remote hook, but to be able to do it using just a mobile device will be quite a depressing accomplishment for humans
