It was certainly second best in this group of 80 games.

In really fast games (yours are not that fast), say 50ms/move, Critter is even weaker than at long TC, it mishandles time management at that short TC. It may depend also on the form of TC, X/game, X/move or X/game+Y/move.

Is Critter relatively best in (very) fast games?

That just gave me an idea to conduct a tourney exactly the opposite of the one that I was planning!  How about the "big 5" at 1/2 second per move?

That would be a nice compliment to the long-control tourney now running at TCEC.

Yes, that would be interesting on a strong hardware like yours. You need totally 2500 games Round Robin to have 1000 games per engine. The Standard Deviation would be ~9 Elo points, maybe IvanHoe will finally show that it's a little stronger than Rybka. To complete the test you will need only ~2 days. If you are willing to test for a week or so, you could go even to 4000 games per engine, with 4-5 Elo points Standard Deviation.

I would certainly be interested,
