A tournament having just been completed, I took a glance _way_ down my computer games collection and stopped at Century 4 v. SOS. I did not recall the name Century 4, but saw it had defeated SOS 59 - 21. So I took a quick look at the first two games. I was impressed; C4 had a very nice attacking style, kind of reminding me a bit of R. Fischer or maybe M. Tal. So I looked for this engine (google)...ah ha! Rebel stable. I think I have, or should have, this engine as it is am early version of Rebel, and while looking at my lists, etc., hmmm apparently I've not even had Gandalf 5.1 play in one of my tournaments - but that is neither here nor there. Anyways, take a look at these two games; they are enjoyable, and are from the SSDF database. The second game was blunder checked by Hiarcs 13.2 this morning.

Thanks David for bringing this up....
Reminds me of the good old days of the computer chess era
SOS & Century 4 are in my waiting list for playing a 20 games match against....hope I'll find the time to do so....
Right now I'm playing Virtual chess II 2.04....an amazing program back from the year 1997....

You are quite welcome. Virtual chess II 2.04? Is that winboard/uci capable? I did a quick google and one comment I saw was that it was not winboard capable. If it is, is there anywhere that you know of that it can be legally obtained? Of course, 14 years have passed...Dr.Wael Deeb wrote:Thanks David for bringing this up....

Nope....it has it's own gorgeous GUI and even though it's 14 years old now,it still looks great and has tons of options that you can play with....Dayffd wrote:You are quite welcome. Ok, and thank you. I did look around some, but saw nowhere I could buy it legally except maybe at amazon.com.uk, but that may have been pretty old.
